RWM believes in providing more than just employment opportunities for our Pacific Australian Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme workers – we’re dedicated to offering
training and upskilling opportunities, with a core focus on helping workers gain formal qualifications so they can take their skills learned here back to their home communities.
We partner with leading training providers to offer programs that are carefully designed to meet the specific needs of workers across various industries, including manufacturing, horticulture, agriculture and meatworks. This tailored approach ensures that each worker gains practical, industry-standard skills that can make a real difference in their day-to-day work.
RWM supports 1,000+ PALM Scheme workers in completing their certificates, equipping them with the skills needed to thrive in their roles. The programs not only enhance workers' expertise but also build their confidence, empowering them to contribute more effectively to their workplaces.
By offering qualifications aligned with industry standards, we ensure workers not only develop new skills but also gain access to opportunities that can transform their careers. For example, a qualification in meat processing can enable workers to step into specialised roles in Australia’s thriving food production sector, opening doors to higher pay and greater job stability. Similarly, obtaining a forklift licence equips workers for logistics or warehouse roles, providing them with in-demand skills highly valued by employers. These qualifications enhance career prospects in Australia and can also be valuable assets when workers return to their home countries.
RWM CEO, Brad Seagrott, explained, “It’s rewarding to see our PALM Scheme workers arrive in Australia to learn relevant industry skills and then formalise these through traineeship qualification. We know our people are going to be trained at industry standards, which, in return, develops each individual’s confidence and a more productive employee. Our workers can proudly take their formalised skills back home.”
The impact of our programs goes far beyond the workplace. When PALM Scheme workers return to their home countries, they bring with them valuable work experience and formal qualifications that contribute to their personal growth and the betterment of their communities. RWM is proud to support the development of a ‘brain-gain’ for Pacific Island countries and Timor Leste, helping elevate local standards and drive progress within these communities.
“The PALM Scheme is mutually beneficial. Obviously, the support that it provides to the Australian businesses in both rural and remote areas is extraordinary,” said Tom Reardon, RWM and PeopleIN, Executive Director.
We see workforce management as a tool for creating long-term positive change. Our dedication to supporting PALM Scheme workers in gaining formal qualifications reflects our broader mission of creating brighter futures for individuals, their families, and their communities.
